Tak pernah terlintas bahawa satu hari saya merupakan biggest fan of Kek Lapis Sarawak. Hujung tahun 2007 sewaktu membeli belah di Popular Bookstore di KK, sambil membelek-belek corner kegemaran, buku-buku motivasi dan seterusnya 2 buku teristimewa tulisan Puan Rabiah Amit and that time seingat saya buku pertama dan kedua. Sebelahnya pula penulis tak saya kenal Puan Noraini Zakaria. Compared to these 2 books saya pilih buku Puan Noraini. Kenapa? Saya yang begitu jahil mengenai pembuatan kek ini merasakan I need to go back to basics. Indeed ianya hanya sebahagian dari koleksi rak almari buku sehinggalah pertengahan 2009. Bermula dengan Kek Lapis Mentega Kacang, buat dan share with my neighbor and sister. SEDAP! That is what they said. It really was the stepping stone.
When I was staying in Kuching, it was not my favourite during Hari Raya or any other time. I prefer Kek Buah or what people call Kek Warisan Bonda. My mom never baked those cakes eventhough the recipe was written way back in the 70's and I'm blessed to have copied them in my book. Now I even have photocopy of Puan Rabiah's Amit recipe hand written (not sure whether it's hers or not until verified) way back before her first book, that's awesome and I never put the effort to try them. That's what I call amazing discovery! What's next?
